The Six to Six Mystery

Now believe me when I said Mashcentral has intriguing history. I grew up in one of the best districts of this mighty province, Mazowe. As a potential hub for community based tourism and Eco-tourism, which i will explain later obviously LOL, the province is active in the agricultural and mining sectors that are a must see!

Alright, back to my story. My journeys to and from Harare had been and still memorable ones because the terrain-ed Harare- Mazowe road which passes between mountains and small gorges is studded by the great Mazowe dam. The view just mesmerizes me and I lurked inside just to stop by and satisfy my desire to see the dam closely😂, of which I will. Fishermen would be in the amazing water with their canoes fishing their hearts out and then stand by the roadside selling their juicy catches. Just along the way is a kiosk which sells farm produce from the majestic Mazowe estate. The dam sustains communities around it including the farms and people at the same time creating revenue as people locally and externally come to enjoy themselves from boat cruises, fishing, canoeing and nature walks.

Oh! Yes, the six to six mystery. As we passed by the dam elderly passengers in the commuters would talk about a huge snake which is said to have spent the whole day crossing the road because it was huge. Cars would then have to line up from 6am to 6pm! This is a famous myth among the residents, and it was believed that it was the custodian of the dam. Deep in the dam are some curves where it is believed to be where the snake resides. At the dam, provisions for braai, canteen and tables and seats to just sit and relax in the gazebos, savoring the addictive view of the dam.

A few hundred meters away from dam is the Mazowe Hotel resort. So you will never really get stranded when you visit the place. The resort is well position in a strategic manner such that it is accessible to the road and still give that nature feeling of the surrounding environment. It offers great hospitality with a full bar and catering facilities. A casino, yes casino, is at the guests disposal, with also meeting and conference rooms for any occasion.
